Oriental
"Keys to Love" card by Sonja Idema (Oct 2004) Emboss
two sets of flat die-cast key charms onto thick red craft foil using the
"Spellbinder" Wizard and carefully cut them out around the outside
edges. Fit the keys so they will sit cross wise over each other onto a piece of
oriental "washi" paper, but do not adhere them to it yet. Using a
corner punch, clip the edges of the washi paper and apply red metallic thread
around it. Fit the washi over a piece of red cardstock layer and adhere it to
the card using 1/8" gold coloured brads on each corner angle. Cut a piece
of bronze "metallic" paper and using a "wrought iron" punch,
clip the corners to fit the red cardstock/washi piece of papers. Cut away
"curly-cues" from wrought iron punched areas, to leave a simple
"fastener" shape to them and adhere the red/washi paper piece to it.
Now adhere the metal key charms made with the wizard in a cris-cross fashion
over the paper using "pop dots"to give them a bit more dimension.Stamp
the oriental lady (Bunch O’ Fun Rubber stamps - Canada) onto a piece of red
cardstock and emboss in black. Cut and layer onto a small piece of
"bronze" metallic paper. Stamp the mini oriental character for
"love" (Bunch O’ Fun Rubber stamps - Canada) using versamark on the
top and bottom edges of a top-folded card. Adhere the stamped piece and keys to
the front. Embellish the card using red ribbon and gold thread on top of the
card and add beads as desired.
Oriental
Tags card by Sonja Idema (Oct 2004) Side
fold a piece of desired coloured card and stamp the word "Harmony"
(Art Impressions) using gold pigment ink on the far right side of the card. To
the left of the stamped word, fit a piece of gold card and punch the bamboo
image (All Night Media) on the mid-left hand side.. Layer a piece of "washi"
paper over the gold card and to the right of the punched image. Adhere these
pieces to the card.Cut (and emboss if desired) tags with the
"Spellbinder" Wizard machine using the Gemini tag #2 die out of two
contrasting colours to match the washi paper. Take the largest and next largest
tags from the two contrasting colours and adhere to each other. Add a punched
hole to the top of the larger tag and add fibres as desired. Stamp the symbol
for "love" ( Hero Arts) on the bottom of the smaller tag. Using a
"packing tape technique", transfer a colour photocopied oriental image
(in this case the face of the Geisha) and apply onto the tag, just above the
stamped word. Apply the tag over the washi paper at an angle using raised double
sided mounting tape. To finish card, draw lines around the outside edge of the
card using a gold gel pen.
Foil
Flora Dragonfly card by Sonja Idema (Oct 2004) Taking
a piece of foliage from the garden (in this case a branch from a Juniper tree),
emboss onto a gold piece of thick foil using the "Spellbinder" Wizard.
Then taking "Tria" (alcohol based) inks on a piece of felt
"paint" by dabbing over the foil foliage, using a brown and green
colour. Heat set with a heat tool. Lay this piece aside for the moment. Using
the "Spellbinder" Wizard machine and the Gemini tag #2 die, cut the
largest tag shape out of a piece of acetate. Stamp the image of a dragonfly
(Penny Black) using a permanent black ink such as StazOn onto the acetate tag.
Adhere the tag onto a "branch" of the foil foliage piece using a tan
coloured 1/8" eyelet.Cut a piece of "cork" paper and using a
"wrought iron" punch, clip the corners to fit the foil foliage piece
onto it. Stamp the "Dragonfly" definition (Inka Rubber Stamps) onto a
piece of tan vellum and layer over the bottom right corner of the foil foliage
using double sided tape indiscreetly. Adhere the piece to a side folded piece of
Hunter Green card and finish the edges using a gold leaf pen.
